I had the opportunity to cover the opening of the Flynn Center’s Playing Fields 2025 series at Lyndon Institute, featuring the French street theater troupe Compagnie Off and their production Les Girafes.
This vibrant outdoor performance transformed the school’s lawn into a playful stage where towering red “giraffes” on stilts mingled with the crowd. Performers in bright scarlet uniforms led the way, drawing in families, students, and community members for a spectacle that was as whimsical as it was visually striking.
The photos capture the interaction between performers and audience—children stepping forward with wonder, crowds gathering under the trees, and the surreal contrast of the giant red giraffes against the Vermont landscape and Lyndon Institute’s historic architecture.
Documenting Les Girafes was not only about photographing a performance but also about telling the story of how international street theater can bring communities together in shared joy and curiosity.
