Red-Winged Blackbirds of Baker’s Pond

Perched among cattails, birches, and pines, the red-winged blackbird is a striking presence at Baker’s Pond. These images capture the male’s bold crimson-and-gold shoulder patches flashing in flight, as well as quieter moments of watchfulness and balance on reeds and branches. A familiar voice of marshlands and wetlands, the red-winged blackbird adds both color and song to the natural beauty of the pond. This series highlights their vibrant energy, territorial displays, and the wild charm they bring to Vermont’s landscapes.
